The first prototype of Baykar’s AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) gained its wings. In a press statement made on October 19, Baykar announced that the installation of AKINCI UCAV’s wings had been completed, supplementing the news with a photograph taken in front of AKINCI featuring Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay; Özdemir Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board of Baykar; Haluk Bayraktar, General Manager of Baykar; and Selçuk Bayraktar, CTO at Baykar.

The first test flight of AKINCI is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019, while the launch of serial production is envisaged towards the end of the same year.

Having started to develop the AKINCI using its own resources in May 2017, the company shared information regarding this project with the public for the first time on June 12.
