CES Advanced Composites is making its mark in the global field most significantly in the ballistic protective helmet segment market. After opting to work in this field and to come up with a product family, the company completed the development of its products within 2 years, and has created a product family that includes a variety of helmets developed for different threat levels. Visitors to the stand of the company had the opportunity to see all members of the ballistic protective helmet product family, which have now completed qualification testing, and which have already entered into use in a Western European country.

Speaking on the development of their ballistic protective helmet product family, Çağla Pınar Turunçoğlu, President of CES Advanced Composites, said: “When a tender is opened for ballistic protective helmets, the specifications of the helmets and the tests they must pass are published in a list. These tests, which must be applied in accredited laboratories, relate not only to ballistic protection, as there are also tests for resistance to environmental conditions and mechanical loads. With our young team of competent engineers, we consider both ballistic performance and testing. CES Advanced Composites’ infrastructure is focused both on material technologies and quality, being built around its aviation activities. By making use of this infrastructure, we have been able to introduce a world-class product family in a very short period of time. We have rapidly increased our production capacity thanks to the opportunities provided by Açık Group, and as a result, have surpassed our competitors in terms of not only performance and quality, but also price.”

CES Advanced Composites made the first sales from its ballistic protective helmet product family, to an export customer in Western Europe. After delivering approximately 5,000 helmets to the customer in 2018, the company received a new order this year from the same country for the same quantity. The company is also competing in a tender opened by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) for the supply of ballistic protective helmets. Speaking about this tender, Turunçoğlu said: “We are one of the two pre-qualified companies, and we have full confidence in our product. We have completed all our investments and are ready to satisfy the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.”

CES Advanced Composites’ Bomb/EOD Search Suit, as another of the personal ballistic protection products produced by the company, has entered into use in the Turkish National Police, and the company has offered the same product to Land Forces Command, and expects to make the first delivery within this year. Another delivery due to take place this year is the aircrew ballistic vest designed specifically for the General Command of Gendarmerie. The vests, to be used by pilots and flight crews, offer a high level of protection.

We will include news of other solutions of the company, as well as remarks for the upcoming period from the officials of the company, in the next section of the Special Dossier that brings together in one place the highlights and developments that took place at IDEF’19.
