Leonardo Proposes IFTS to Turkey, Turning a New Page in Pilot Training

The International Flight Training School (IFTS) was at the top of Leonardo’s agenda at IDEF’19. Leonardo has proposed the IFTS as an effective solution to meeting Turkey’s military pilot training needs.

Launched at Farnborough Airshow 2018, the IFTS is operated with an innovative approach, led by military and powered by the industry. The school, currently located at the Galatina Air Base of the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force, ItAF)  in Lecce but soon to be relocated to a new location, is host to 18 T-346A aircraft (Italian Air Force classifies M-346 aircraft as T-346A) of the ItAF. Leonardo is also supporting the IFTS with four additional M-346 aircraft, three of which have been delivered, and the other one is scheduled for imminent delivery, and with the supply of the integrated education system used in the school.
