The special coverage published in the 58th issue of MSI Turkish Defence Review (TDR) is below:

On July 12 Meteksan Defence announced that its Retinar PTR Perimeter Surveillance Radar had been selected by the airport of an unnamed capital city in a European country.

The Retinar PTR system will be integrated onto telescopic masts at the airport, and will be used to detect humans, animals or vehicles posing a threat around the airport. All deliveries and integration works are planned to be finalised in 2018, and the systems are to be activated before year end.

Retinar PTR, developed for the security of borders and the perimeters of critical facilities, uses micro Doppler analysis technologies to classify the detected targets as vehicle, human or animal. The system can detect walking people at a distance of 4 km, small vehicles at 8 km and large vehicles at 10 km.

Retinar PTR, the first member of the Retinar family, was launched in 2014. Meteksan Defence developed the product family through its own resources after predicting the potential need in the Turkish and global markets. Meteksan Defence then went on to expand the family with the addition of such variants as Retinar OPUS and Retinar PTR-X.

Retinar PTR scored its first export success in August last year. The product also entered into the service of Turkish Land Forces this year and has been in use ever since.
